Balangir: deacying hills

In Balangir the decaying Hills, exploited Nature, Lost Bio-Diversity says many stories of Hunger, Poverty, and Injustice loaded on the people and Natural Resources meant for People. This is a photo of a hill in Jamuna village, Haldi GP, Muribahal Block. The place looks like a desert with degraded soil, lost vegetation and naked decaying hills.

balangir town

Balangir town -- Headquater of Balangir district, a beautiful small town in Western Orissa, much known for Poverty & Hunger. But I think this place is a live example how so-called post-independence civilization has snatched away Life and Livehood from people who are close to Mother Earth.

The town once a King's castle, is still bearing an example of their culture, which is eco-friendly. The Palace line road is neat & clean and cool, old Neem Trees are standing in line beside the road. It is nice to walk or drive around here. Town is full with many trees like Mango, Amla, Guava, Bel etc; these are planted mainly in Gardens of private houses. Unlike westernised Fashionable cities/town, here Decorative plants are rarely seen, Fruit-bearing and Flower plants are seen more; And this says Balangir people love plants and aware of beneficial impact of trees.
